OUR STORY

Eight years ago, Connor Dale met Rachel Messer at an open mic asking the question that started it all.

"Do you need help tuning your guitar?"

Without even exchanging names, they would remain strangers until the following year... where they would meet yet again at the same spot. Thus began the start of something God ordained; a beautiful marriage and life-long music partnership. Over the years, they spent countless hours on the road, built a tiny home on 10 acres in the hills of Eastern Kentucky, and just welcomed their first baby girl into the world - Naomi Jean Dale. In the midst of it all, they would go on to release new music individually; sharing their passion for songwriting and storytelling with all that would listen.

After almost a decade of solo performances and sharing the stage together under their own names, they decided it was time to come together under one name: MOCKINGJEAN.

MOCKINGJEAN is a husband/wife duo from the hills and hollers of Appalachia. Together they perform as multi-instrumentalists and singer/songwriters; complete with the love and chemistry showcased in their presence on stage. Their music is a reflection of two different styles coming together to create something unique.

ABOUT THE MEMBERS
Connor Dale; Alternative Country singer-songwriter, sings letters, stories, and the things he sees happening in the world. Kentucky born and New Orleans raised, he pulls from the life he’s lived in both parts of the country, creating a unique urban-folk writing style.

Rachel Messer Dale, a singer-songwriter raised up a little holler in Fort Gay, WV, draws her inspiration from the country and bluegrass greats before her. She pens her lyrics with a straightforward “say it how you see it” style, true to her Appalachian roots. With performances all over the United States, her time on Team Blake (Season 15 of NBC’s The Voice), and fans across the world, Rachel has worked hard to spread her voice.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
